Two Clare hurlers stood down from Allianz League clash with Laois

Two members of the Clare hurling panel have been withdrawn from consideration for Sunday's Allianz Hurling League meeting with Laois.

The players - whose names have been withheld - were deemed close contacts of the two Wexford players who tested positive this week for COVID-19.

The two sides met in Ennis a week ago.

Both Clare players were both tested for coronavirus on Thursday, but their results are not yet known.

"The two players have been stood down for this weekend as a precaution," a Clare spokesperson said on Friday evening.

Their removal from the panel will delay Brian Lohan's naming of his team for Sunday's Division 1B game in Portlaoise.

The game is crucial to both counties' survival in the division, as they've lost both of their opening two matches.
