A court’s heard a homeless man with cerebral palsy died after being stabbed more than 180 times in a park in Dublin.
20-year-old Philip Dunbar of Glenshane Drive in Tallaght has gone on trial accused of the murder of Adam Muldoon, which he denies.
In opening the case, prosecuting barrister Pauline Walley told the jury Adam Muldoon died in a really awful way having being stabbed 183 times.
He was a 23-year-old man with cerebral palsy and sometimes used a walking stick.
He was described as a settled homeless person and had the nickname ‘Floater’.
The jury heard on the evening of Friday the 22nd of June and into the early hours of Saturday the 23rd of June 2018 the accused and the deceased, who knew each other, had been an area called the Glenshane estate in the company of other people.
At some stage, before or after midnight, they went into Butler Park and it’s the prosecution’s case that Philip Dunbar stabbed Adam Muldoon over 180 times with a knife causing his death.
Some of the injuries were minor the court heard, while some were immediately fatal and penetrated three vessels.
