Parents will receive a double Child Benefit payment of €280 per child today.
Minister for Social Protection, Heather Humphreys, says "the double child benefit payment will be received in people’s bank accounts beginning from today."
638,000 families qualify for the double payment, which includes 1.2 million children.

The measure was announced in September’s budget as part of a €2.2 billion social welfare package announced in Budget 2023.
A €400 lumpsum of the Fuel Allowance will be paid on November 14th, along with a €200 lumpsum of the Living Alone Allowance.
Pensions and Jobseekers payments are due to increase by €12 a week from January.
