Beyonce accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement award last night - and was joined on stage during the MTV show by her husband Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy. She then closed the show with a nearly 20-minute performance, and the internet nearly broke with the excitement.

Some other winners include:
Ed Sheeran won best male video - for Sing.
Lorde took home Best Rock Video for Royals (she’s won so many awards for Royals in the “rock” category...rock? ROCK?!)
Video Of The Year went to Miley Cyrus for "Wrecking Ball".
She’s trying to raise funds and awareness for youth homelessness - and during the MTV show she looked tearful as she let a young man called Jesse pick up the award on her behalf. I thought that was unbelievably corny (especially the close-up of her tears) until she skipped all the after-parties in order to go for dinner with him. Miley, you’re alright.
Katy Perry picked up the trophy for Best Female Video with her song Dark Horse – and she also channelled Britney and Justin at the VMAs circa 2001.
