We got a great text in during the show this morning from Ian in Carlow who revealed that his parents named him after....the one and only MR IAN DEMPSEY!

Hi Ian.I was named after an American equestrian, Melanie Smith. My parents both heard her interview on the radio during the Dublin Horse Show, from separate locations.Both came home with the same name. Melanie Smith.

We named our youngest Senan Moloney - for no reason other than my wife loved the name - then we did the usual, bought the paper of record on the day he was born - the headline was written by the chief policital journalist - Senan Moloney

Ian (Dempsey) actually revealed that his own son Evan'sme came from a moment of inspiration in the maternity hospital. The brand of hospital bed was Nesbitt Evans! There you go, every day is a school day!
