When Ian caught up with the legend that is Karl Pilkington yesterday, he mentioned that he was always up early, and revealed that his alarm tone of choice was the Mr. Men theme tune. We reckoned that might be a bit too gentle for most people. You'd need something a bit stronger to get you out of the bed on a miserable January morning!
Out of interest, we put it to the staff in the Today FM offices and a massive 99% went with the generic phone ringtone option!

Morning Ian, every night I diligently set my alarm for 7.15 the following morning.....and every morning I am awoken by the sound of a herd of wildebeests running on the landing WELL before 7.15am. These dulcet tones belong to the tiny little feet of my 6 and 4 year old girls, Emma and Rebeccca who literally race each other from their beds every morning to be the first one to wake mammy up. Just to be clear, there is no prize for being the first to wake me up......but still every morning including weekends they are my ever reliable alarm clock. I can't wait until they are teenagers.....I will set my alarm for 6am every morning and drag the 2 of them from their beds by their feet, hahaha!!! Tara in Limerick

Hi Ian, I wake at 5 to the opening bars of Villagers "Nothing Arrived". It's lovely, maybe you could play it. In Summer time I use Imelda May's 'Good to be alive', perfect for a sunny morning with birds singing ! Lizzie in Laois
I put the phone on silent and when it vibrates on the locker I wake up. It's nice and gentle and you don't end up hating a certain ring tone!
Today FM wakes us up on the radio alarm clock 20 mins before the iPhone alarm goes off with the 'Alarm' sound and a message saying 'Get the hell up'.

I've Today FM on the radio set to turn on at 6:55 every morning but if I need an extra alarm my phone plays pocket full of rainbows. Nice upbeat song to start the day.
