Tom Hanks is a massive Maeve Binchy fan because he has great taste. He’s mad into writing and collecting typewriters – and has actually just released a book of short stories called Uncommon Type. He said he read Light A Penny Candle (the only book I ever actually took out in college) on holiday, and ended up reading her vast collection afterwards. He even wrote her a fan letter and she wrote back!
Simon Cowell has decided it’s time to get fit and healthy after his fall last week – apparently he was on his way downstairs to get a cup of warm milk when he couldn’t sleep and fell down the stairs, cough – and so he has invested in a bike. Well, 2 bikes. He keeps one in his LA home and one in his London home and he plans on getting loads of use out of them and get really fit and healthy... on electric bikes.
U2 could be set for a run of gigs at Dublin's 3Arena next summer. Their new album Songs of Experience will be released on the December 1st and they want to follow up their massive-stadium Joshua Tree tour with a smaller and more intimate tour next summer. I'm sweating and nervous thinking about the scramble for tickets already.
