Today is World Toilet Day (it really is) - and in honour of this, we thought we'd ask the listeners of the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show to get silly, and tell us their best toilet jokes, and stories of toilets they've come across on their travels. It became clear that there are some funky toilets out there - and the Japanese love their buttons while the Greeks love their buckets! Cue hundreds of texts and a lot of giggling! Here are some of the texts we received:
World Toilet Day is big in our family. I'll be celebrating with all my cisterns! Jackie
International toilet day Ian? Keep a lid on it. Noel.
World toilet day - who thinks up this shite?
Iano! My toilet is a mean spirited psychopath! Everyday it TAKES THE PISS and then BEATS THE CRAP outta me!:-x
Toilet joke. Did you hear about the constipated mathematician. He worked it out with a pencil....!! Ollie from Wexford
True toilet story: when McDonalds opened the auto hand washing basins in the wall, I thought they were a new version of the urinal. Half way through my business the hot air fan came on! Emmet
Hi Ian, to celebrate toilet day I'd leave it for 10 minutes if was you. Cheers, Ciarán
International Toilet Day will be FLUSHED with success!! Lorraine
My cheeks are flushed with the excitement of world toilet day! Susan, traffic jam in harold's cross
And if that wasn't enough, Helen our newsreader also had a story about smartphones being charged by human waste in the future...and that also got a huge reaction:
What do you call a phone charged by human waste? An iPoo !! Therese, Limerick
So, we would all be talking using SH#TE, instead of just talking SH#TE!! Lorraine
Hi ian, once we were charging things with solar power, now we can charge phones where the sun don't shine! Mike
It would be a crap instead of an app! Noel
