Yes, we’re taking over! It’s great news for TV presenter Angela Scanlon because she has landed a gig on The One Show, filling in for host Alex Jones while she is on maternity leave. Angela will be alternating the maternity leave with Michelle Ackerly and she will feature on Thursdays and Fridays. Angela is over the moon and says she is thrilled to get the chance to present one of her favourite TV shows.
And it’s not just Angela, but a little known Irish presenter called Mrs Brown has something big in the pipeline too! A new chat show called ‘All Round To Mrs Browns’ was given the green light after a successful pilot and will air in February! A one-off special of the hit show – created by and starring Brendan O’Carroll was broadcast live last July and attracted an audience of almost nine million viewers.
Midge Ure has revealed that there’ll never be another Band Aid single because he doesn’t think music is able to help in the way it once did. The original Band Aid single ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ was released 31 years ago (1984) and raised over £8 million pound for charity but he feels that it worked because it was in a time when we didn’t have video games, mobile phones and all the distractions we have today. They released a number of follow ups in the years after, in 1989, 2004 and 2014 but the 2014 reincarnation failed to have the same impact.
David Beckham has been the face of H&M's menswear range for five years but the relationship has come to an end. The high street store will not renew the footballer's contract when it finishes at the end of the year and in an attempt to appeal to a younger audience, have announced that they are going to launch a range with The Weekend – which will be available from early March. The Beckham collection made international headlines when it first launched in 2012 because the advertising campaign featured David Beckham in various states of undress.
