Us Irish, we love the telly. Kicking back with a big mug of tea, a packet of chocolate digestives and your favourite show, you couldn't bate it with a big stick.
As today marks World Television Day, we wanted to pay tribute to some of the biggest and best characters on the box and after plenty of input from our listeners, we managed to compile a comprehensive Top Ten.
10. Peter Griffin
In at 10, it's the one and only Peter Griffin from Family Guy. Father, husband, friend, he doesn't always get it right but that's why we love 'Peeeeettttttta'
9. Rachel Greene
Friends is one of the most successful sitcoms of our time and those six characters will be ingrained in pop culture forever. However, it was Rachel Greene that the listeners of The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show put on the list. What is it about Rachel? Her journey from spoiled little rich girl to successful, career woman? Her comedic timing? Her impressive wardrobe? That iconic hairstyle? Whatever it is, we love Rachel!
8. Al Bundy
Ah, Married With Children - what a show. Dad Al was grumpy, a bit cheap and called his child after a brand of beer but viewers loved him all the same. He came in at number eight on this morning's poll.
7. David Brent
What can you say about David Brent? He is just CRINGE! But, that's why we are so very fond of the star of 'The Office'.

6. Basil Fawlty
The star of the much loved 'Fawlty Towers', Basil was pessimistic, traditional and a bit of a snob but his arrogance and short fuse makes the series what it is! He had to be included in this list.
5. Walter White
You wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of Breaking Bad's Walter White aka Heisenberg. Bryan Cranston's science teacher - turned- drug lord is one of those iconic characters that will be quoted forever and ever. Remember, he is the one who knocks.
4. Fr Ted
No list of TV characters would be complete without our very own Father Ted Crilly. Ted is the unlikely priest with questionable morals but he is the heart and soul of one of Ireland's most famous TV series. 'Good luck with the book'.
3. Homer
D'OH! The man behind some of this generation's most quotable phrases - Homer Simpson came in at number three in our Top Ten of The Best TV Characters Of All Time. He may not be the best husband, the best father or the best colleague but he means well doesn't he? Most of the time.
2. Tony Soprano
He is the mob boss with a heart and he very nearly pipped Del Boy to the top spot. In TV series 'The Sopranos', Tony Soprano juggles his role as the head of a Mafia family with being a good father, husband and son and he doesn't always succeed!

1. Del Boy
Good 'ol Del Boy Trotter. He is often regarded as one of the best comedy characters of all time and although the series has been off air for some time, he clearly still holds a very special place in Ireland's hearts!
