This year, the real-life John Lewis is the star of his own Christmas ad.
Twitter’s Christmas ad features him replying to everyone on the social media platform from the comfort of his home in Virginia:
You've been asking about the John Lewis advert, well here it is...@TwitterUK gave me a starring role in my very own Christmas #ad#NotARetailStore pic.twitter.com/In3b9uHDtm

The owner of the Twitter handle @johnlewis is known for being inundated with notifications every Christmas when the retailer's Christmas ad comes out.
The father of four from Virginia in the States works in computer science and just so happens to have a username similar to the retail giant.
I'd say "you're welcome," but I think that might be the wrong answer. @johnlewisretail https://t.co/L1ZoeQJmJn

John's a good sport and is known for his witty replies back to people on Twitter:
I've got a truck you can borrow but the fuel costs will be ridiculous. @jlandpartners https://t.co/jl4bz698LR

It's not all bad though. John now has his own Christmas ad and gets decent gifts from John Lewis every festive season:
