A survey this morning has found that the phrase, 'Thank You', is now going out of fashion & replaced with Cheers, Ta, Cool & Nice One. So we asked our listeners and they gave us a sample of phrases they use instead of 'Thank You'...
- An expression I picked up in college was 'Tanks and Bullets', as a way of saying thanks. I think it's a joke at people who don't pronounce their 'Th'. It stuck with me and my mother uses it, and now all her friends. Mags in Cork
- Another one - 100%
- What can i say ian Lovely JUBLY
- What about Fran from Love Hate, who uses the expression Coola Boola
- i hear alot of people saying 'lovely hurling' instead of thank you. chris in cork
- Ian I nearly always say god bless ye don't really know why but there you go P.J. in Laois
- i say A1 dermot athlone
- In Limerick, A lot of folk say "Sound" as a way of saying thank you!! "Here's your change" - "Ah, sound out!" from Jenny in Limerick
- What about 'Game Ball' instead of 'Thank You' A bit daft but I've heard it a few times. Gary from Monaghan.
- I say thank you about 400 times a day, sometimes I say thanks and cheers the odd time (usually when I've said thank you five times already). I like it! Thinks it's fierce polite, but as long as you're saying it in some form then it's grand! We can all afford manners
