Taylor Swift released her new album, Reputation, this morning and at 5am I downloaded it on to my iTunes account, paying 12 euro for the privilege. I listened to her last album 1989 around 6 zillion times for the same price (before she uploaded it onto Spotify) so I anticipated it to be a good investment. I was not wrong.
I am a massive Taylor Swift fan – I love her music, enjoy the scandal and the drama that always surrounds her and this album, Reputation, has it all.
The track list is as follows:
- Ready For It
- End Game
- I Did Something Bad
- Don’t Blame Me
- Delicate
- Look What You Made Me Do
- So it Goes
- Gorgeous
- Getaway Car
- King Of My Heart
- Dancing With Our Hands Tied
- Dress
- This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things
- Call It What You Want
- New Year’s Day
Here are some thoughts, and that’s all they are – my thoughts – after listening to the album I have waited 3 years for. No pressure.
The second track, End Game, is collaboration with Ed Sheeran, and Taylor even raps a bit. I could get used to Rapping Taytay. The line “I swear I don’t love drama. It loves me” is very T-Swift. She even references Ed Sheeran’s older music “I wanna be your A-Team”.
I Did Something Bad is VERY good, kind of like the Bad Blood of Reputation. “If he spends my change, then he had it coming.” Who? WHO TAYLOR, WHO?
Delicate seems to be about someone she actually currently LIKES – “My reputation’s never been worse, you must really like me” – is this about Joe Alwyn, her current boyfriend?
Gorgeous is the fun song, the self-deprecating Taylor we’ve seen now and again (in a very Taylor-controlled environment. That Apple ad, anyone?). Anyway, the very first word of the song, “gorgeous”, is uttered by none other than Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ daughter James (and it is really cute!)
King Of My Heart – is this also about Joe? They were spotted at a Kings of Leon Concert back when they started dating!
And Kim and Kanye may want to have a listen to This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things. She references THAT conversation that did/didn’t/did again happen.
It is a great pop album and if you’re not into pop music, why are you still reading?! And if you are a fan of pop music, this is for you. Go forth and enjoy!
