Some excellent music news overnight, as Gary Lightbody and the boys announced the details of a seven date Irish tour they will do this May.
The band will kick off their tour in the Millenium Forum in Derry on May 11th, and finish up at the Ulster Hall in Belfast on May 20th. Here are the dates in-between:
- Cork Opera House, May 12th
- The INEC in Killarney, May 14th
- The Olympia Theatre, May 15th
- Wexford Opera House, May 16th
- Leisureland, Galway, May, 18th
Tickets for all tour dates go on sale at 10am on Friday, March 30th via usual outlets.
Wildness, the band's seventh studio album (and first record in seven years), is set for release on May 25th. They have just released the first single and video from it, Don't Give In, and there's a hint of Bono in it we feel...
The Stones Get Their Curfew...
The Rolling Stones kick off their No Filter tour in Croke Park on May 17th, but they've had to agree to a host of conditions in order to secure the license. These include safety, fire and noise plans being adhered to - like a strict 11pm deadline.
They must not sound check or rehearse outside the hours of 11am and 8pm, and have the stage dismantled by 1am on the night. No messing about there lads.
And if you want a special 'All-access' package; where you get to meet all the band, get some snaps with them, premium tickets for the show, priority entrance and a bag of merchandise, then all you have to do is fork out €20,000!! I kid you not.
The band, in conjunction with travel organisers If only, have made this option available for all the gigs in their European tour. You'd want to be ROLLING in it!!
RDC & Double Impact go through to Ireland's Got Talent Final...
Last night's third I.G.T semi-final saw the 31-member dance group RDC, from Cork, and Dublin dance duo Double Impact (made of 12-year-old Kyle Haw and 9-year-old Syesha Byrne Murphy) book their place into Saturday night's live final.
RDC were voted straight through by the viewers, whereas Double Impact won a 3-1 judges vote beating choir The Deaftones.
The biggest shock of the night was Zac Milne failing to make it to the final show. He received a standing ovation for his explosive free-style dance routine, and a collective gasp as his name was called out to go home.
Hats off to all the performers, but a special applause for drag performer Martin McGuinnes who was slated in his audition (where Jason Byrne accidentally pressed his Golden Buzzer), but came back fighting with a very entertaining version of Chris De Burgh's 'Patricia The Stripper'.
