Leinster and Ireland rugby star Robbie Henshaw has joined forces with Sharon Shannon to make a trad album.
The 25 year-old plays the button accordion in his family band The Henshaws and the clan have released a special charity album called The Secret Sessions.
"Music has been a huge part of my life since a very young age," he said.
"Sharon Shannon was a musician I always looked up to and it is really special to have the chance to play tunes with her on this album."
Sharon says she first met the Henshaw family early last year:
"We rehearsed a few times during the summer during gaps in my touring and rest periods for Robbie between his Leinster and Ireland commitments", she added.
"We eventually recorded the whole album in one day at Bressie's studio in Dublin. The Henshaws are all great musicians and it’s been a privilege to be involved in such a good fun project for such a worthy cause.”
All proceeds from The Secret Sessions will go towards South Westmeath Hospice.
The album will be available on December 1st on iTunes and record stores nationwide.
