After an extremely limp draw against Georgia at the weekend, Ireland play another World Cup Qualifier against Serbia @7:45 in the Aviva stadium tonight. Keano was gonna have a look at that game, but there was a history lesson to be had first.
They (whoever 'they' are) say we must look back to move forward, but Eamon Dunphy and Johnny Giles mustn't have got that memo. Roy had the two lads on air to chat about, what Eamon describes as, the worst performance by any team, in any sport, EVER, "and I've seen Angola play ice hockey".
Mr.Giles challenged Dunphy about his statement claiming that their game against Poland away in 73' could have been worse, "we only sent out 7 players, and three of us didn't have boots". There was the matter of a dodgy hat-trick too.
Legendary gaffer, Steve Staunton rang in to remind the lads that things were much worse during his reign, and Eamon doesn't disagree with him, "Yes Stan your tenure was putrid!". Roy doesn't want to hear much more out of him either.
The host then reluctantly kicks off his new 'favourite' segment which sees him chat with the best/most hilarious fans in the world (the Irish that is), but they seem to have lost the ability to actually chat. They hit the Corkman up with a few of their most creative chants, "WHERE IS WES, WHERE IS WES, WHERE IS WEEEEEEEES....".
Seeing as Tony O'Donoghue couldn't squeeze much out of the tight-lipped Martin O'Neill the last night, Roy subs in a more ferocious attacker to make him spill the beans. Vincent Browne takes no prisoners!
Finally, to polish off the show, Roy does his uncomplicated comp., but poor aul Anne and Conn are seriously struggling with it. See if you can get it - "Finish off the phrase on the famous Irish supporters flag - Davy Keogh says.....?". Conn nearly pips it at the end, until some Lionel Richie confusion...
