Iano and John Duggan got chatting about books this morning and Ian mentioned he hadn't read any books lately, so John recommended American Tabloid, his favourite book, Paula recommended The Pillars of The Earth – and our listeners texted in their droves to recommend great reads for someone who has been out of the “book loop” and wants to get back in. Have a read below – and Happy Reading!

Ian I'd recommend Room by Emma Donoghue. She's a Canadian based Irish author. It caught me right from the start. The whole book is written through the eyes of a 5 year old boy whose mother was kidnapped when she was 19 and the boy was fathered by his mother’s captor. It's brilliant! Elaine

The Stand by Stephen King would get you back into reading. Such a brilliant book
Ian, please read "The Green Mile" by Stephen King. King wrote this in the style of Charles Dickens - 5 short novellas make up the novel so it's a bit like reading a TV series with a cliff hanger at the end of each one - makes the reader eager to find out what happens next! A true page turner and beautifully written - way better than the movie. Emer from Swords.
Happy New Year Ian! I loved the book 'Wonderland Avenue' by Danny Sugarman- sex, drugs and rock and roll in LA in the 60s, hilarious, gripping and mad stories about the Doors, Iggy Pop, and excessive behaviour- you won't be able to put it down! Love the show! Clare Gallagher
