No it should be named after an Irish person first if the name is to be changed, it's a really bad idea.

Nelson's Spire to replace Nelson's Pillar?
Nelson's Point as in meeting point - it's pointing to the sky.
Should be called Pearse's Pillar. . . . Perfect location and all! We do have 100 anniversary coming up in fairness.
The spire should be renamed the Freedom Spire or the Independence Spire.
Name the spire after Donal Walsh, he touched so many people.
Why not call the spire the 1916 Rising for obvious reasons and then put in a section to everyone involved in the Easter Rising
We have enough of our own heroes of our own instead of going outside the country?
