The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show asked listeners this morning what they’d do to chill the church out. There were plenty of ideas offered:
- Re fun church....priest stop making boring sermons!
- I would get Hosier to take me to church to make it more fun!!!!!! Diane
- Electric picnic style inflatable churches with dancing priests wearing horse heads might do the trick. Les
- Just make the music modern! Pop, dance, r n b influences. Rachel from Dundalk
- The Catholic Church doesn’t need an injection of FUN it needs an injection of REALITY. It needs to be brought up to date with how people ARE living instead of how they THINK people should live. They also need to treat equally the women that choose to be a part of their church.
- Hey Ian, there is fun in the church if you are looking for it. Go to Gardiner Street Church on a Sunday night at 7.30 and you'll have fun. The Gospel Choir are having great craic on the altar and are also fantastic to listen to. You even get tea and cake afterwards.
- Brendan McCormack - fireworks always works and deffo gets you closer to God.
- To make the church more fun why don't priests wear bright colourful dresses instead of those boring old long black ones. Sean, Kerry
- My gay friends are pretty fun, if they were welcome in the church, or maybe some women priests, it could be fun - equality and reality is fun!
- Debbie O' Callaghan - Slot machines instead of confession boxes??
- Hi Ian, Fr Breen in Stradbally, Laois is an older priest but gives hilarious sermons, you never know what he will say next. You would hear a pin drop in mass during his sermon. I'm not a church goer but if I have to go I love seeing him walk onto the altar. It's a pity there isn't more like him. Michelle

- Hi Ian. We play acoustic god rock in Nurney youth choir, Kildare...people love it.
- LT Dub - #closertogod Two words - Women Priests. Sure to shake things up & make mass more fun 😇
- Adam Nolan - on the way to work last week and there was a sign erected in the church car park saying "Jesus is my rock and I like to roll"
- Gardiner Street gospel choir every Sunday at Francis saviour church 7:30pm. The best of craic. Great music. Upbeat-Fr. Donal is the bizz :)
- Father Dougal To Do Guest Appearance Sermons in various Parishes
- Ian. Let priest go out and get married, because if they were married they might not be as boring
- Sunday school for kids, which encourages whole family's back to church. And would also give precious school time back to PE, music etc
- They should give everybody a glass of wine on the way in, Ed in the van.
- Jayann - bring in Whoopi Goldberg and get us dancing in our seats!
