Over the weekend, local Laois Junior hurling club team Clonad turned up for their Easter Sunday morning Division 4 game against Timahoe – with just 14 players!
Luckily for Clonad (celebrating 100 years this year!), former player Johnny McEvoy happened to come along to the game to watch his two sons Joe & Tom play. On hearing the predicament they were in, Johnny decided to tog out & play in goals...at the age of 68!
They won 1-11 to 1-9 despite playing with 14 men for the second half after one of their team-mates got sent off.
Johnny & Tom joined Ian this morning to explain all.
