Rachel Allen has confirmed that she was in the running to replace Mary Berry on The Great British Bake Off. She did a screen test and all – but lost out to Prue Leith who will join Paul Hollywood on the new series over on Channel 4 later on this year. However – all is not lost – she will be on the judging panel for My Kitchen Rules UK. She offered a listener of the Early Breakfast one of her “freshly baked scones” out of her “ahven” a while ago...after Darina shouted at him to get out of her kitchen for being too dirty!
Gordon Ramsay was also approached to replace Mary Berry, but he didn’t want to be “sloppy seconds”.
Speaking of Gordon Ramsay – no fear of his children being spoilt rotten. He has joined the Bill Gates school of thought, and will leave them NONE of his fortune. The only thing he has agreed with his wife Tana is that they get a 25% deposit on a flat - but not the whole flat.
His children don’t sit with them in First Class on family holidays as they “haven’t worked hard enough” to afford it yet. So when they board a plane, Gordon and Tana go left and the kids turn right!
Christy Dignam’s battle with cancer is to be turned into a documentary on RTE. The performance he did on the Late Late back in January with Finbar Furey has had more than 5 million views and people are interested in him, his career and his life story.
They’re going to film Aslan’s July 7th gig in Ivy Gardens and they have filmed other gigs over the past few months too. So if you’re off to the Ivy Gardens in July, wear something nice because you might be on the telly!
