British star Eddie Redmayne was named best actor for his role in The Theory of Everything, while Julianne Moore won best actress for Still Alice.
Birdman has won the Oscar for best picture, and JK Simmons and Patricia Arquette were honoured for their best supporting roles.
Eight movies were vying to win best picture, with each going away with one award.
However, it was a disappointing night for the hotly-tipped Boyhood, with Arquette's best actress win its sole award despite six nominations. (full list of winners below)
Headline of the Day goes to the Daily Mail with:
“Love again at 84: Clint Eastwood brings new girlfriend Christina Sandera to Oscars”.
Gwyneth Paltrow wore my favourite dress – long, pale, one-sleeved dress with a big pink rose on her shoulder. So elegant.
Jamie Dornan won’t star in a sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey– because his wife doesn’t want him to, it has been claimed.
He has also been left reeling by a barrage of scathing reviews for the movie adaptation of the risque S&M book...(sorry Jamie)
It has also been claimed that Jamie didn’t click with co-star Dakota Johnson, saying: “Jamie does not think his performance was bad – instead he blames Dakota and says it wasn’t possible to have chemistry with her.
“He says Dakota gave him nothing to work with.”
Elsewhere, a woman has been arrested after being caught, um, pleasuring herself during Fifty Shades of Grey.
The 33-year-old was reported to staff by fellow cinema-goers in Western Mexico - and she was led away from the scene in handcuffs by cops. That plan worked!
