So after thirty four years of hard work, allegiance, and controversy (lots of controversy), Gerry Adams has decided to call it a day.
The news broke over the weekend, as he gave his resignation speech in Dublin, but that's not all he's resigning from.
Unbeknownst to majority of us, Gerry is also been a top class radio jock for Sinn Féin FM, and has decided to make way for a new generation of broadcaster. But who will take the hot seat?
Gift Grub popped over to their studio in Louth this morning to provide us with a live feed from his farewell show.
Co-hosted by Mary Lou McDonald, they took a trip down memory lane and had a look at the time he needed a Hollywood star to do some voice-over work for him.
We heard a soothing promo for Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin's "unlikely sounding classical music buff" show, followed by the last ever Showbiz segment from their 'man in the know', Pearse Doherty (@sweetpearse). Our own Showbiz specialist, Paula McSweeney (@sweetpmac), has nothing to worry about though, as we don't think Pearse quite understands the concept.
The textline was hopping, and the calls coming in thick and fast, to bid Mr.Adams farewell. Miriam O'Callaghan, Bertie Ahern, Micheál Martin and Joan Burton, all get to have their say. Miriam even gets to play one last round of their favourite game, "Beat Around The Bush".
Not too sure about the "Shoot, Mary Lou" reference Gerry makes...
