Disappointment for Game of Thrones
A disappointing night for Game of Thrones at last night’s 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, taking home only two trophies for Supporting Actor in a Drama for Peter Dinklage, and Outstanding Drama Series. (Although they did win 10 awards at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards last week)
The lack of awards may not come as too much of a surprise, considering the response to the show’s eighth and final season. Many fans were left very disappointed in the eagerly-anticipated ending.
On the comedy side of the awards, the night belonged to Fleabag. It won Outstanding Comedy Series, and Fleabag star and creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge won Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Writing for a Comedy Series

And in other awards news: bosses at the Brit awards are planning to scrap gendered categories. They want to axe the British Female and Male Solo Artist classifications in 2021. Sam Smith recently asked people to use the pronoun they rather than him, and Brit bosses are listening to the changes happening in the industry.
The Grammy Awards scrapped their gendered categories back in 2012 and have since been criticized for failing to recognise women.
