Next week thousands of junior infants will start school for the first time – a big occasion for both child and parent.
Ian Dempsey spoke to Marie Kierans at the Irish Mirror about his first day memories and his favourite teacher: “Her name was Miss Harrington, she wore cat like glasses and she was just lovely.”
Not daunted in the least by starting primary school - “It was a local school so all the kids I knew were going there. I was really excited about starting” – he was on his way up from early days: “I remember early on getting a gold star for being the first one to be able to tie my laces. I think it was the only time I was first in the class for anything!”
Good man Ian!
What are your first day at school memories? Were there tears? Or couldn’t you wait to get out the door to school in your new shiny shoes?
