Anne Kirkbride, who played Deirdre Barlow on Coronation Street, sadly died last night aged 60.
She had been on a break since late September for "personal reasons". One of her last scenes was the “trifle” scene (from yesterday’s showbiz), so today let’s have a look at Deirdre’s Stuffed Marrow (almost as famous as Betty’s Hotpot.)
Speaking of Corrie – they’ve sacked a new actress. Katie Redford was sacked after being cast to play Sarah-Louise’s 14 year old Bethany. Katie had told producers she was 19 but she’s actually 25 – only 6 years younger than Tina O’Brien, who plays Sarah Louise, her mother. It’s a shame she lied because she passed the screen test so obviously she looked right for the part.
