Emma Thompson was on BBC Newsnight last night and she is a class act. She spoke about Harvey Weinstein being top of the harassment ladder and she so eloquently spoke about all the things that are wrong with Hollywood and “pestering” (as she said her mother would have put it) in the "olden days."
She herself had words with Weinstein in 2007 after he called Hayley Atwell, who was a young actress at the time, overweight. It was even more unpleasant that that; he saw her eating lunch and called her a fat pig. Emma told him if she ever heard him say that to her or any other actress she would pull out of that project (Brideshead Revisited) and any other project he was associated with.
And in other showbiz:
The IFTAs will not be on our TV screens this year. The awards ceremony had been screened by TV3 for the past two year, however, the station will no longer broadcast the show after low viewing figures last year.
RTE also said it would not be showing the IFTAs, but did confirm that the Film and Drama Awards would be aired next spring.
Taylor Swift has launched her own social networking app.
The Swift Life promises exclusive content and photos and direct engagement with Swift (k hun.)
The star is also expected to be launching her own set of emoji stickers called 'Taymojis.'
And in the most useless poll ever, the worst beard in the world goes to... Brad Pitt! Gary Lineker and Justin Timberlake also top the list. Gary Lineker's is pretty bad, to be fair:
