Emmy and Grammy-winning musician and songwriter Adam Schlesinger, known for his work with his band Fountains of Wayne and on the TV show “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” died Wednesday after contracting the coronavirus.
He had won 3 Emmys for songwriting and he was also nominated for an Academy Award for writing the title song for the 1997 movie “That Thing You Do,” written and directed by Tom Hanks.
“There would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his ‘That Thing You Do!’” Hanks, who is himself recovering from the coronavirus, said on Twitter. “He was a One-der. Lost him to Covid-19. Terribly sad today.”
Kanye West is not just a musical artist, but a visual artist as well and now some artwork from his teenage years has been appraised on the American version of Antiques Roadshow.
The owner said he acquired a large portfolio of Kanye’s work after his mother passed away in 2007.
Part of the collection was also a flyer that promoted a showing of West’s work when he was 17 years old, and interestingly, it notes that “Kanye will begin his studies for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and continue to pursue a career as a music producer as well.”
Anyway – 17 year old Kanye’s work is set to make anything from 16 to 20K at auction.
