Tottenham Europa League game with Wolfsberg moved to Budapest

Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest Premier League team to have a European tie moved to a neutral venue.

The first leg of their UEFA Europa League last-32 contest with Wolfsberg has been relocated from Austria to Budapest's Puskás Aréna.

The date (February 18) and kick-off time (5.55pm) remain unchanged. The second leg is still scheduled to be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Hungarian capital is going to become very familiar with Premier League sides in the coming weeks.

The first leg of Liverpool's Champions League last-16 tie with RB Leipzig was moved from Germany to the Puskás Aréna, as was Borussia Monchengladbach's first leg with Manchester City.

Manchester United will play the away leg of their Europa League last-32 tie with Real Sociedad in Turin, and not the Basque Country.

While both legs of Arsenal's tie with Benfica will be played at neutral venues due to coronavirus restrictions. The first leg (February 18) has been switched from Lisbon to Rome. And the second (February 25) will be played at Olympiakos' Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis and not the Emirates.

With so many games being moved to neutral venues, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have no issue with ties being cut down to one-legged affairs.

"Travel in Europe at the moment is difficult, as we all know," he said "And it’s not a decision that we made.

"But when one game is at a neutral venue, it’s a disadvantage for the team that doesn’t have a home game.

"That’s out of our hands, we can’t say ‘let’s just meet in Turin and play one game’. I wouldn’t mind that at all, one game less."
