A Florida man has filed a lawsuit against Masters champion Tiger Woods and his caddie Joe LaCava for an incident dating back to 2018.
Brian Borruso alleges he sustained injuries after LaCava pushed him when he was trying to take a selfie with Woods in the background.
The incident is alleged to have happened during the third round of the Valspar Championship at Innisbrook when Woods landed a tee shot near Borruso.
He claims he stumbled and fell into the crowd after being pushed by LaCava and it resulted in "permanent or continuing" injuries.
Josh Drechsel, the lawyer representing Borruso, said the lawsuit was filed two years after the tournament to get a better understanding of the injuries.
Drechsel has also issued a public plea for evidence from fans who might have witnessed the incident on the day in question.
Borruso is seeking more than $30,000 in damages and Woods was named as a defendant because LaCava is an employee of his.
The lawsuit says United States Golf Association rules state golfers are responsible for their caddie’s actions during a round and that Woods “failed in his duty as he freely allowed” LaCava to negligently use force.
There has been no comment from Woods, who was set to start the defence of his Masters title at Augusta on Thursday.
Golf's first major of the year was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and has since been rescheduled for mid-November.
