Solskjaer given vote of confidence by Ed Woodward

Manchester United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has given a vote of confidence to their under-pressure manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United have won just two of their six Premier League games this season but Woodward says they 'remain focused' on rebuilding a team in line with Solskjaer's philosophy.

He added they're committed to a 'primary objective' of 'winning trophies'.

“We remain focused on our plan of rebuilding the team and continuing to strengthen our youth system, in line with the philosophy of the club and the manager," said Woodward while announcing record revenues of £627.1-million.

"This is reflected in the recent addition of three exciting first-team players, key player contract extensions and the talent we have coming through our Academy.

"Everyone at Manchester United is committed to delivering on our primary objective of winning trophies."

Solskjaer meanwhile has given a positive update on Paul Pogba's fitness and says the French World Cup-winning midfielder could get some minutes against Rochdale in the English League Cup tomorrow night.

“He’ll probably get some minutes against Rochdale. But we definitely think he’s ready for Arsenal.”

With Marcus Rashford sidelined due to the groin injury picked up in last weekend's 2-0 defeat at West Ham, Marcos Greenwood is in line to start.
