There's good news for Irish golf fans after Rory McIlroy announced at Fota Island on the eve of the Irish Open today that he will represent Ireland at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
Golf will become an Olympic sport for the first time since 1904 in Rio, and McIlroy has put to bed constant speculation that he could choose to walk behind the flag of Great Britain.
McIlroy's good friend Graeme McDowell has already committed to the Irish team after representing Ireland in the World Cup of golf.
