Put The Kettle On has followed up last year's Arkle success to win the 2021 Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham.

The Henry de Bromhead trained mare defied odds-on favourite Chacun Pour Soi up the hill, to win narrowly under Aidan Coleman at odds of 17/2.

Chacun Pour Soi had gone off a hot-favourite at 8/13, particularly after last year's winner Politilogue was declared a non runner shortly before the race following a burst blood vessel.

And the Willie Mullins star looked to be travelling well when jumping fluidly, and being ridden back in third and fourth throughout, just behind Put The Kettle On, who set the pace.

The pair moved towards the front two-out, jumping the final fence neck and neck.

However, Put the Kettle On fared better up the famous hill, holding off a late challenge from the Skelton's Nube Negra to seal a second championship race for Henry de Bromhead in 2021 - and a third overall - after his Champion Hurdle success 24 hours ago.

It also marks a dream St Patrick's Day for the Irish contingent, going four from four so far this afternoon.

With Nube Negra second, Chacun Pour Soi eventually crossed the line in third, as trainer Willie Mullins still waits for his first ever Champion Chase victory.
