A case of so near and yet so far for Liverpool. 12 Months ago they were within touching distance of claiming a Premier League title. A year later the club look as far as ever from doing just that, not to mind securing a place in the Champions League.
It looks like Liverpool will have to settle for competing for a Europa League spot after last night's 1-0 Premier League loss at Hull. It leaves them seven points away from the Champions League places with four games remaining.
Michael Dawson's first-half goal for Hull means that Steve Bruce's side have taken another significant step towards survival - moving above Aston Villa to 15th in the table and four points clear of the drop zone. Brendan Rodgers admits, Liverpool never really looked like they'd score. Whos fault is that Brendan?
