Nicolas Roche will ride the 2015 Tour de France with Team Sky.
The Irish cyclist left Tinkoff-Saxo to ride with the British team this year, but his inclusion was far from certain. It was feared he would miss cycling’s most prestigious race, having been left off a recent short list.
The 30 year old will compete alongside Richie Porte, Geraint Thomas, Peter Kennaugh, Ian Stannard, Luke Rowe, Leopold Konig and Wout Poels in a nine man team which will be headed by 2013 winner Chris Froome. Disappointingly there was no place for Donegal's Philip Deignan.
The 2015 Tour de France gets under way in Utrecht in the Netherlands on July 4th. It will Roche’s 7thTour de France, and his 14th Grand Tour.
Very proud to be part of @TeamSky for this 2015 #tdf can"t wait!! Thanks for all messages of good luck this morning! Grand tour n14 lets go!
