The Meath county board wants an investigation into the events which led to the resignation of Peter O'Halloran as chairman last Friday.
Drumconrath official O'Halloran is the subject of a complaint made by referee Patrick Neilis over the content of a WhatsApp message O'Halloran sent to Neilis in 2017.
O'Halloran, who was chairman of the county's Competition Controls Committee at the time, asked Neilis to " ride Slane in a month or so" ahead of a Junior club game in Meath.
O'Halloran said in a statement last week that he sent it in the "heat of the moment", adding it was a "bad call" and one that he "deeply regretted"
Neilis said he was shocked by the request and didn't respond initially but then followed it up a few weeks later, on the advice of friends.
O'Halloran and Neilis have confirmed the request was never carried out.
A statement from the Meath County Board last night read:
"The Meath G.A.A. Management Committee have decided tonight that an investigation is necessary into the complaint made against Peter O’Halloran by Patrick Nelis.
It shall now be carried out by a higher G.A.A. authority. We shall make no further comment until this investigation is complete."
