Manchester City have been handed a difficult path towards a potential Champions League final, if they can hold off Real Madrid in the last 16.

With the competition set to resume in Lisbon next month, UEFA made their draws for the quarter-final semi-finals in one go this morning.

City bring a 2-1 lead into their last-16 second leg with Real Madrid, and if they come through that game they'll face either Juventus or Lyon in the last eight. The French side will be bringing a 1-0 lead to Turin for their last-16 second leg.

The winner of that quarter-final will go up against one of Barcelona, Napoli, Bayern Munich or Chelsea in the final four. Barcelona and Napoli are level at 1-1 ahead of their second leg, but Barca do have the advantage of an away goal. Bayern Munich are odds-on favourites to be in the quarters, bringing a 3-0 first-leg advantage back home for their return tie with Chelsea.

The other side of the draw is much clearer.

Leipzig will take on Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals, and the winner of that will go up against either PSG or Italian side Atalanta.

The competition will conclude in an eight-team knockout tournament in Portugal from 12-23 August, with the remaining last 16 second legs to be played at their original venues the week prior.

Quarter Finals:

1) Real Madrid or Manchester City v Lyon or Juventus

2) RB Leipzig v Atletico Madrid

3) Napoli or Barcelona v Chelsea or Bayern Munich

4) Atalanta v Paris St-Germain

Semi Finals:

Winner of QF1 v winner of QF3

Winner of QF2 v winner of QF4
