Leinster have added Cian Healy and Sean O’Brien to their European Champions Cup squad ahead of the upcoming quarter final against Bath at the Aviva Stadium. The big ball carrying pair missed the Province’s pool fixtures due to hamstring and shoulder injuries. Teams are allowed to supplement three players to their initial 38 man squad for the knock out stages.
Coach Matt O’Connor has also brought in Ireland under 20 captain Nick McCarthy. Eoin Reddan, Isaac Boss and Luke McGrath retain their place so Leinster now have four scrum-halves in their European selection.
Leinster aren’t the only side with big name additions. Toulon have added Freddy Michalak and Juan Martin Hernandez to their panel. Schalk Brits is back for Saracens, while former Munster centre James Downey and Piri Weepu have been brought into the Wasps group.
Full back Tiernan O’Halloran and number 8 Eoghan Masterson has been added to the Connacht squad for their Challenge Cup trip to play Gloucester at Kingsholm. The English side have brought on-loan Leinster centre Brendan Macken into their panel.
