Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says his players came up with the "perfect reaction" during the 2-1 win away Wolves in the Premier League.

The Reds have won 14 top-flight games in a row and in doing so became only the third team to go 40 games unbeaten in the Premier League.

Liverpool were under pressure at times at Molineux but Roberto Firmino's late winner made it 22 wins in 23 league games.

Klopp's side have a 16 point lead at the summit with a game in hand and their latest win was another major step towards a first league title since 1990.

Speaking after the game Klopp said: “We couldn't get the second or third goal when in front, which means everything is open and it gets intense.

“Wolves are so different to everything else you face. We don't go for perfection, we go for a perfect reaction if possible.

“We tried to fight back in difficult situations and that is what the boys did again, and we won the game which is unbelievable."

Klopp says he is not feeling any pressure about being 16 points clear at the top: "I don't think about it, I had to ask about exactly the amount of points, that's the truth, I really forgot in the week.

"I didn't think about it, I know we play Sunday at Shrewsbury, I know we play Wednesday at West Ham and I know we play Saturday."

The only downside for Klopp was an injury to Sadio Mane in the first half, which saw Takumi Minamino come on to make his Premier League debut.

Klopp said it's too soon to determine how bad the injury is: "We lost Sadio, that is the pressure I have, he felt something in the hamstring but we don't know yet."

Liverpool have three games in the next nine days - with an FA Cup trip to Shrewsbury on Sunday followed by league games against West Ham on Wednesday and Southampton next Saturday.
