One of Ireland's greatest flat jockeys, Johnny Murtagh, has called it a day in the saddle to concentrate on his training career.
Five times Irish champion jockey, the 43 year old won the Epsom Derby three times, the Irish Derby four times and the Ascot Gold Cup five times.
The Meath native has ridden over 100 Group One winners, and was associated with greats of the turf such as 'Sinndar', 'Yeats', 'High Chapparal' and 'Motivator'.
Sinndar's win in the 2000 Epsom Derby was Ireland's first win in the race in 16 years.
It is a personal favourite because I had €10 on the nose in a betting shop in Dalkey.
The horse turned out to be one of the true greats.
