It was probably a close call between Davy Fitzgerald and Jim Gavin, but the Dublin senior football manager got the nod from the judges and was today named Philips Sports Manager of the Year for 2013 at the Shelbourne Hotel in the capital.
Gavin, a 1995 All-Ireland winner as a player, guided the Dubs to the League and Championship double. Bernard Brogan's goals sank Mayo in a 2-12 to 1-14 victory for the county in September.
