Irish boxing's civil war continued on Friday with the IABA voting to oust three provincial bodies.
The IABA's Central Council voted to remove membership from the Leinster Provincial Council, Connacht Provincial Council and Dublin County Board.
In June, all three bodies withdrew their support for the IABA's Central Council in a row over deferred elections. The board of the IABA has stalled on electing two new directors - a measure passed at the 2019 AGM.
In a letter, the Connacht Council stated, "The number of elite boxers leaving the sport is at an all-time high.
"The Association continues to lose its elite boxers to professional boxing due to inadequate funding and supports at national level. At the rate we are going we won’t have a credible team for 2024 Paris Olympics."
The Central Council met on Friday to discuss the matter, taking three separate votes in response to the provincial bodies' stance.
There was a vote of no confidence in the officers of the three units and the members who supported the decision to withdraw support for the IABA Central Council.
They also voted an objection to the three units' affiliation to the IABA.
Finally, and perhaps most significantly, the Central Council voted in favour of revoking the memberships of the Leinster and Connacht Councils, and the Dublin County Board.
A statement adds, "The matter has now been referred by the Board of Directors to an independent Membership Panel to consider the matter and to make a final decision on."
News of the Central Council vote comes with the backdrop of a disappointing week at the World Elite Boxing Championships in Belgrade.
An inexperienced team is yet to register a single victory with Ricky Nesbitt (48kg) and Keylan Cassidy (80kg) both in action on Saturday.
