Let's face it it's hard for sports organisations in the real world to compete for cash and ticket sales when compared to the global monster that is the Premier League. Their worldwide appeal means each match next season will be worth around 10 million a game. To put that into context Paraic Duffy revealed at the 2015 GAA Congress in Cavan that the GAA's media rights deal for three years wouldn't even amount to 10 million! That indicates how hard the Airtricity League has to work in a country still feeling the effects of one of the worst recessions in Ireland's history. There are positive signs in the economy and hopefully these green shoots will positively impact on sport here. To be fair the League of Ireland deserves more credit and tv exposure but it all costs money. Just as well social media can provide a platform for grass roots organisations to get the word out about their respective sports. And already there is a contender for goal of the season in Ireland.  Greg Bolger and Morgan Langley hit the net to give St Pat's a 2-0 win over Derry City at Richmond Park last night. Much like Stephanie Roche, Greg Bolgers goal would compare favourably with any on the world stage - a stunning 45-yard Beckham-esque strike for St. Pat's
The 26-year-old no stranger to imprssive strikes having scored the Goal of the Season for 2013. This is just ridiculous and why you should support your local side.
