Dundalk move three points clear at summit of SSE Airtricity League Premier Division

A hat-trick from John Mountney helped Dundalk open up a three-point lead at the top of the SSE Airtricity Premier Division last night.

The Lilywhites were four-nil winners at home to Sligo, it also ended the Bit O'Red's unbeaten run of seven games in the process.

Patrick Hoban also found the net from the penalty spot, his 11th goal of the campaign.

Last night's game at Dalymount had eight goals and a red card as Bohemians ended their five-game winless run with a 5-3 win over basement Finn Harps.

Ryan Swan scored twice for Bohs with Daniel Mandroiu, Keith Ward and Kevin Devaney also on target for the hosts.

The visitors ended that game with ten men following the sending off of Caolan McAleer.

And there was late drama at Richmond Park where Simon Madden's equaliser 70-seconds over the allotted injury time rescued a 1-1 draw for St. Pat's with Cork City.

Karl Sheppard had given Cork the lead early in the second half.

Pat's boss Harry Kenny feels they got out of jail.

"I'm really relieved but hugely disappointed with our second half performance, in the first half, I thought we played quite well and created a few chances but Cork had their spell in the second half and we didn't retain the ball as well as we did in the first. But obviously we're delighted to get out with a point."

Shelbourne are two points clear at the top of the First Division courtesy of a 1-nil win at home to Longford where Conan Byrne grabbed the winner 11-minutes from time.

Drogheda are up to second following a 2-1 win at Wexford, fourth-placed Cabinteely were held to a scoreless draw at Galway.

Bray fell to a 1-nil defeat at Cobh while Athlone and Limerick drew one-apiece.
