Doctors confirm Pavard did not sustain a concussion in Germany game

Benjamin Pavard did not suffer a concussion following his collision with Germany's Robin Gosens on Tuesday night.

The France full-back was tended to on the field, after Gosens' hip crashed into his head during the second half of the Euro 2020 Group F contest in Munich.

Speaking to BeIN Sports after the game, Pavard claimed to have been "a little knocked out" for between 10-15 seconds as a result of the incident.

Many were unhappy with how Pavard was dealt with on the pitch. Chief executive of brain injury charity Headway, Peter McCabe, said, “The way this incident was handled was sickening to watch."

"UEFA has to come out and immediately explain how it was allowed to happen and what action it will now take to ensure something similar does not occur in the future.”

RMC Sport say that Pavard was examined by an independent doctor, not employed by the French Football Federation (FFF) after the game. The 25-year old saw respected neurologist Jean-Francois Chermann, with respect to UEFA's head injury protocols.

The doctor conducted all necessary tests on Pavard, and concluded that he did not have a concussion.

While on the pitch, the French physio had asked the right-back simple questions like the score of the match, his name, and city in which they were playing - all of which he answered promptly and correctly.

Pavard underwent further precautionary checks on Wednesday, and showed no ill-effects from his collision with the German wing-back.

He now looks to be available for Saturday's Group F game with Hungary.
