Confirmed: New three-year deal for Troy Parrott at Tottenham

Republic of Ireland teenage striker Troy Parrott has signed a new three year deal at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dublin native, who turned 18 on Tuesday, made his Premier League debut off the bench for Spurs in December's 5-0 win over Burnley. He was an unused substitute in Wednesday's FA Cup victory over Southampton at the new White Hart Lane.

Parrott's current deal was due to expire this summer. He has played 71 minutes of first-team football for the North London club this season.

Parrott's manager Jose Mourinho has been reluctant to entertain talk of the player going out on loan due to his tender age, although the penning of the new deal may alter that dynamic in the summer.

Harry Kane spent time on loan with Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City before becoming a regular in the Spurs first team.

Last month, Mourinho said about Parrott:

"Having minutes, being involved is one thing. Another thing is what you call the direct replacement. To be that he needs to work. There are many processes of a player to develop, in some cases the loans are very good. You have the example of Harry Kane or Tammy Abraham. In other cases, no need of a loan because the development at the parent club is more natural."

Troy Parrott made his international debut against New Zealand back in November.
