England head-coach Eddie Jones expects his team to improve ahead of next weekend's Rugby World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.
The 2003 winners booked their spot in the last-four with a 40-16 victory over Australia at Oita Stadium this morning.
Jonny May scored two first-half tries to put England on their way, before Kyle Sinckler and Anthony Watson added tries in the second half.
"The good news for us is we can still improve. We weren't absolutely at our best," Jones said after the win.
Australia started the game fast, played superbly the first 20, we had to hang in there, hung in there, got a bit of momentum back and got the points that we needed. I'm so pleased for the players that worked hard to get this result.
"We had to dig deep in the first 20 minutes. They had a lot of possession and were attacking well, it was an important part of the game. We hung in and got the momentum back and took opportunities well and went in at half-time in a good position.
"We made a couple of mistakes to let them back into the game but I was impressed by the ability of my team to refocus. It was a great job by Owen Farrell as captain."
Jones feels his attack have clicked into the gear as the tournament has gone on:
"The players are excellent in working that out. Scott Wisemantel has done a great job with our attack, getting more options in our attack. I think at the start of the four years here we were a little bit too one-dimensional but now we've got more options. He's done a great job in that area."
The England head-coach also had a barbed response when asked if he felt vindicated by not starting George Ford.
"I didn’t drop him, I changed his role, and he was brilliant. Maybe you guys need to start reporting differently. Rugby has changed. Come and join us in modern rugby, give me your email and I’ll send you an invite."
