Colin O'Riordan free to play in Tipperary's Munster Senior Football Final against Cork

Sydney Swans have granted permission for Colin O’Riordan to line out for Tipperary in their upcoming Munster Senior Football final against Cork.

"It is true, which is great news for the group," Tipperary boss David Power confirmed this evening. "We got the great news yesterday morning that he got the go-ahead from the Swans and we're very thankful to the Sydney Swans."

The JK Brackens clubman, who won an All-Ireland under-21 title with the Premier in 2015, has been training with their senior football panel for the last month while keeping his fitness up for next year's AFL season.

""He is under contract (with Sydney) and he's been training with us over the last number of weeks", Power added. "He's been with us for matchdays as well and he's helped the lads on the line.

"It's not like he's only coming in for these two weeks. We're very proud of him and when he rang me there yesterday morning it was a wonderful feeling."

O’Riordan said earlier this year that he would “give my left leg to play for Tipp” but it wasn't expected that he would be allowed to take to the pitch for his county during his period at home.

Cork are still awaiting news on whether Mark Keane will be given dispensation to play for them in the final, with manager Ronan McCarthy admitting that "he’s their player, it’s their call."
