Anna O'Flanagan returning to Ireland after two years in The Netherlands

The Irish women's hockey team's record goal-scorer Anna O'Flanagan is returning home for the 2020 season.

The World Cup silver medalist, who has played her club hockey with Bloemendaal in the Netherlands with  for the last two years, has signed for Muckross.

In addition to her playing role, O'Flanagan has also been appointed assistant coach at the club.

The 29-year old is a former student at Muckross College and has previously won Irish League titles with UCD and Monksland.

O'Flanagan was recently named player of the tournament at the FIH Series event in Banbridge and Muckross say it's a coup to attract the experienced Ireland international to the club.

"The club are delighted to be welcoming Anna back to her school grounds of Muckross Park College as she joins the Muckross Magic.

"With 180 international caps to her name, Anna will be using her vast experience and world class skills to further develop this young, ambitious and talented team."

Simon Pearson will remain as Muckross' head-coach for a second season and they say he'll be "instrumental in achieving the team’s goals, as well as identifying and developing breakthrough talent".
