Andrew Porter to miss remainder of Six Nations

Andrew Porter has been ruled out of the remainder of this year's Six Nations.

The Leinster prop suffered an ankle injury in last weekend's win over Italy.

A subsequent scan revealed the extent of the injury, which has forced him out of the games against England and Scotland.

Porter sustained the knock early on in the facile win over the Italians and was replaced by Dave Kilcoyne.

He has now returned to Leinster where he will continue his recovery.

Meanwhile, Connacht head coach Andy Friend has included two Irish squad members in his team for tomorrow's meeting with Edinburgh.

Out-half Jack Carty returns to captain the side for the United Rugby Championship match in the Scottish capital.

Dave Heffernan - who has also been with the Irish squad - is handed a role in the front row.

The westerners are bidding for a third successive league win, though Friend says they are expecting a difficult challenge.

“This block was seen as crucial in terms of where we may end up at the end of the season," the Australian said.

"As such, we targeted three wins from three games, so we have one more hurdle to jump in order to achieve that goal.

"There’s no doubt this will be a difficult challenge away to a strong Edinburgh side, but we can take a lot of confidence from our last two outings, not only from the results, but more importantly the manner in which we achieved our victories.”
